What I Did This Weekend

It seems like for the past month, I’ve had at least one thing happening on the weekend, whether it’s work-related events (which took up two weekend days) or having plans with friends. This past weekend, I made sure I didn’t have anything planned so that I could finally have two days to myself.

Friday

I had a pretty easy work from home day before Josh came over and we met my parents for date night. Afterward, we went back to my parents’ house to play with the pups, which was a lot of fun.

Saturday

I decided to treat myself to some shopping in the morning, so that consisted of going to Home Sense, Marshall’s, and Old Navy.

My main purchase at Home Sense was some new pillows for my couches; I got them in dark blue, teal, gray, and blue, which match the overall color scheme of the living room. I also got a few things for my home office and a basket for my bedroom.

My next stop was Marshall’s to find art work to hang up in my half bathroom. I’ve had my eye on a canvas from Target for a while but it’s been sold out. Luckily Marshall’s had something similar to what I was looking for—line drawings of a female—and they had a set of two.

And then I found myself in Old Navy. I hadn’t been in there since pre-pandemic, which it out of character for me since I love Old Navy. I treated myself to two rompers (green and coral) and a pair of short overalls. I’m excited to wear them once the weather gets warmer.

My final stop was the grocery store, and one of my favorite things now is to buy myself flowers. I stick with the bouquets of flowers because I don’t think I could keep any other kind of plant alive for too long. I put the vase on one of the end tables in the living room.

After I came home, tried my clothes on from Old Navy, and put a bunch of things away, I painted my nails, watched the new Law & Order episodes, watched the Sox/Yankees game, and continued reading In a New York Minute, which I started earlier this week.

For dinner, I had leftover pizza from date night, which was in my plans so I didn’t have to make an actual meal. I finished up In a New York Minute before watching the last two episodes of Queer Eye Germany on Netflix and having a few tequila lemon and lime cocktails from Two Chicks. And I was in bed shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Sunday

I planned for this to be my easy and lazy day, meaning I stayed inside all day and wore super comfy clothes. I did a few chores in the morning—cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming—before parking myself on the couch for the better part of the afternoon. I watched all four episodes of Bad Vegan on Netflix and cross-stitched a bit.

For dinner, I made sheet pan fajitas with chicken, onions, and peppers which I turned into tacos. Josh came over around 6:00, which has been our routine for the past month or so, and we watched 6 innings of the Sox/Yankees game.

Overall, I’m happy with how my weekend turned out and that I was able to take some time for myself and do things I really enjoy.

How was your weekend?
