If We Were Having Tea

Life

I survived Election Week—thanks to stress painting, wine, and chips and queso—and found out the race was called for Joe Biden when I was at the hair dresser—the one time I left my house and stopped watching TV for a few hours. I already have plans to take Inauguration Day off and will be planning a very good snack menu. Let’s hope Steve Kornacki finally got some well-deserved rest and snacks.

The first week of the month seemed so long and then the rest of the month flew by. I was off from work the entire week of Thanksgiving and today as well. I was really looking forward to the time off but there were a few afternoons that I was bored/couldn’t find anything to do.

It was just myself and my parents for Thanksgiving; we’ve stayed home the last few years, anyway, so it wasn’t nothing new. I helped out with making a few of the dishes and spent most of my day watching the Macy’s Parade, the dog show, and football.

Running

I’ve run a total of three times this month. THREE. I’d like to blame the fact that it’s getting cold out—I mean, it is November in New England—but I’ve also been lazy. Since I’m working from home, I don’t really have access to the indoor track in the gym on campus where I usually run this time of year after my work day. We have a treadmill downstairs at my house, but treadmills suck.

I have been doing a lot of walks, though, with my mom at night. I’m disappointed in the lack of holiday decorations in my neighborhood…maybe it’s just still early? Says the person who lives in a house that put up Christmas lights outside two weeks ago.

Sports

So the Giants have won a few football games, which is exciting! But I’m still honestly wondering why the NFL is still trying to operate during a pandemic. You’d think they would go, hmmm, when the Denver Broncos are out of quarterbacks because they all have to quarantine and they wanted to use their offensive quality control coach, maybe something is wrong? The NFL denied the request but, at this rate, sure, let him play. It also seems like they didn’t really build too much cushion into the regular season to accommodate any postponed games. Can they play double headers like MLB does? Just a suggestion.

My Questions for You!

  1. How was your November?
  2. For my American friends, how was your Thanksgiving?
  3. Are you looking forward to anything in December?
  4. When is it too early to start playing Christmas music?

  1. Absolutely the longest first week of November ever, well, at least from Tuesday to Saturday anyway. Personally, I can’t wait for January 20. I’m wondering how they are going to manage the Inauguration during a pandemic. If there are no crowds because people are being smart/safe, I can just hear #45 bragging that his was bigger, again. How are you liking Ratched? We watched the whole series right when it came out. Loved it and looking forward to the next series. Thanks for the tip about The West Wing being taken off. I was going to start watching it but won’t now because I know I won’t be able to get through it all. How do you find out what’s being taken away? I was almost at the end of Person of Interest and they took that one off. Our Thanksgiving was quiet, just the five of us. In December I am looking forward to participating in December Reflections, a prompted photo/journal/blog experience by Susannah Conway.

    • I’m sure they’ll err on the side of caution and not have crowds. It’ll be disappointing though that they probably won’t be able to have all of the parties and events that happen at night. But I support them being safe and doing it right.

I liked Ratched. I watched half of it at once and I think I should have spaced it out a bit; I did find some parts odd but I know that what the point of the show.

Sometimes I see articles that Buzzfeed will put out that lists what’s leaving/coming to Netflix, but with TWW, I had saw it on Twitter. It also says when you watch the show on Netflix that it’s available until December 25 (up in the top left hand corner where they show the show rating). There’s no way I can get through it all myself, even halfway through season 4. I’ll look up on Wikipedia what happens for the rest of the show. Worst case, I can buy the box set.

  2. November was the same as every other month this year LOL. My December is not looking good. Can’t give students gifts, they aren’t allowed to give us gifts, won’t be seeing my family over the holidays.

Any time before November 12th is too early for Christmas music 😂

    • Awh I’m sorry you won’t be able to see your family ☹️ That really sucks. Will you FaceTime or video chat with them instead?

*gasp* We started listening to it on November 1 in my house 😂

      • Lol things are still up in the air. I might take a train out after I’ve been home from work for 2 weeks. We are home from work for 19 days LOL but also, our government has said no one outside of your immediate household is allowed to gather at any time in Toronto right now….and hes asking no one to mix households for Christmas.

And *gasp*!!!! Any time after Remembrance Day is ok for Christmas music lol

  3. So you know how we participated in the Blog-luck and I wrote about my affinity for sweet potato casserole…? This year mom went the store bough route and they used lemon as a preservative… it was awful! So I didn’t get my normal SP casserole and I’m still kind of upset by it. She did promise to make some for Christmas though.
