What I Wear to Work—Quarantine Edition

So this post isn’t going to be a fun as my other “What I Wear to Work” posts (here and here). I guess that’s what happens when you’re working from home.

The last time I put on actual pants for work was March 18, as I started working from home on the 19th. Since then, it’s been sweatpants, leggings, and shorts. I’ve been able to cycle through my vast t-shirt collection of sports shirts, university shirts, and race shirts.

The one really good thing is that I haven’t had to do my hair or put on makeup. Both were sometimes a drag for me to do when I was still going to work; some days I just didn’t feel like doing either but felt like I had to. When it comes to my hair now, sometimes I wear it down—I don’t straighten or curl it like I used to—or I put it up in a ponytail with a headband; the second is much more common.

There have been times lately when I miss getting dressed up—I had bought two dresses from QVC right around the start of everything and I’ve yet to wear them—but for the most part, I like not having to plan out what I’m going to wear; I just wake up in the morning and put on leggings and whatever t-shirt is next in rotation. I’m able to sleep in and not worry about having time to get ready.

I’m able to be comfy in my own room. There were some days when I was going to work that all I wanted to wear was a hoodie and leggings, and now that’s actually a reality. It’s just nice to not have to put a lot of effort into clothes and your appearance, you know? It takes a lot of stress off.

How does your work from home wardrobe compare to what you normally wear to work?

  1. Thankfully my work and non-work styles are very similar. I wear dress pants to work and jeans at home but the rest stays the same lol So working from home has just allowed more jean wearing time. I have two wigs so I have to make sure I’m wearing the “good” one when I record my lessons or have live chats with my students, but I’ll go for the old one most of the other time. The new/good one is very snug so I have been wearing it more lately just to get used to it again LOL and makeup only on recording days (Mondays) and live chat sessions (Fridays). I have been branching out into exercise gear since it’s warming up and I don’t want to be all sweaty in nice clothes when I go for my walks haha

  2. I’ve worked from home for 19+ years now and I joke that I work in my pjs but really, since I have no visual contact with anyone, that was actually true at least until mid-morning. However, a year ago we got a dog and now I have to get dressed in the morning to take him for his walk. I wear a lot of leggings with different tops. Sometimes I wear jeans but since I’ve lost a lot of weight, the ones I have are too big for me now so I don’t wear them much. I rarely wear jewelry other than my wedding rings and a necklace and bracelets that I never take off. I clicked back to see your summer and fall wardrobes. Very cute!

    • I haven’t even put jeans on in months haha. It’s literally been leggings or now running shorts. I’m very into anything comfy right now.

And thanks! I don’t mind getting dressed up for work if I have something cute to wear but there would be some days I didn’t want to have to try to match a top and pants 😅

  3. I’m glad I’m not the only one living in leggings these days! Though, to be fair, I always work from home so leggings are pretty much my uniform! 😂
