Where We Went
Cape Cod Maritime Museum. Since we wanted to extend our vacation just a bit before we officially left, we stopped into the museum in Hyannis. It covered the history of lighthouses and sailing in the Cape. The museum was small but had some cool stuff, including a working boat shop where a staff member was working on a boat that had been constructed by local middle schoolers through a program the museum offers.
I don’t know too much about boats, but I still liked walking through the museum, especially in the lighthouse section. (All of my nautical knowledge comes from watching the Below Deck franchise.) The U.S. Coast Guard boat below was originally built in 1944 and was fully restored by a group of volunteers over seven years.

What We Ate

Breakfast: The Breakfast Room. Another repeat from last year! Josh loves a good breakfast place, so we had to go back. I got strawberry cream French toast, and Josh got Irish eggs Benedict.
Lunch: Jersey Mike’s. We did this last year in Hyannis at the mall before driving home; just something quick and easy. I did get my sub in a bowl, and that was really good.
SO. I knew this vacation was going to be fun, but it turned out to be a very special vacation as well. Honestly, I was surprised when Josh prposed; I had thought if he was going to ask me, it would be at Tree House. (We went to the Charlton, MA, location the day before we made our dating official almost five years ago.) It’s been over a week, and he is still very proud of himself for surprising me because I guess it’s hard to??? Who knew.
Once it happened, we did tell our parents and texted our close friends. My parents told a few family friends, which was fine, and I think Josh’s parents told some of their extended family, but other than that, we sort of kept it to ourselves. We didn’t post anything on social media until Friday night, when we were home, because we knew there would be an influx of comments and congratulations. It was nice to celebrate in our own way while we were away.
It’s exciting but also a little scary, mostly because it’s a new chapter in our lives together. We’ve got some ideas already wedding-wise, but we also want to spend the time to enjoy this time.
