Becky + Josh Take Cape Cod: Day 2 (6/1/26)

Where We Went

Cuffy’s. It’s a tourist-y shopping center with all of the Cape Cod swag you could ever dream of. (We went last year and still wanted to go back again to get more stuff.) Josh and I both got shirts, and additionally, I got a mug, and Josh got a coaster. There are too many options, and I think I circled the entire store twice before we left.

Cape Cod Lavender Farm. We got a bit lost on the way there since the farm was a long dirt road off of a paved road, but we made it. We were the only visitors there at the time. The plants aren’t in peak season yet (I think the end of June), but we still walked through the fields. Before we left, we went into the little gift shed with products all made from their lavender. Josh got something for his mom, and I got two lavender citrus candles (one for me, one for my mom).

Harwich Port. There’s a small main street area with shops and restaurants, so we stopped and walked around for a bit. I ended up finding a bookstore that I didn’t have planned—shocker—called Below the Brine and got (This Story Might Save Your Life by Tiffany Crum) for 30% off.

I wanted to go to a jewelry store there to get a Cape Cod bracelet, but the store’s current hours are Thursday–Sunday; luckily, I had a backup plan in place and would get one instead in Hyannis on Wednesday. Our last stop was Reed’s Books, which was on my bookstore list. I got 2 books: All the Devils are Here by Louise Penny (I’ve finally built out my entire Louise Penny collection!) and Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica.

Airbnb. After Harwichport and before dinner, we went back to the cottage in the afternoon. I sat outside and continued reading One to Watch while Josh gamed on his laptop. There’s a small patio off of the living room that’s shaded by arborvitaes, which makes it a private area from the neighbors and the street. After dinner, we took a 1.35 mile walk around the neighborhood before getting ice cream again.

What We Ate + Drank

Breakfast: Captain Baker Donut Shop. This was a repeat from last year, and we couldn’t wait to go back. We split 3 donuts: America 250, S’mores, and cannoli (of course!)

Lunch: Cape Roots. We originally planned to go to another place in Harwichport (Perks Coffee) but they’re also closed on Mondays. Before we left in the morning, I looked on Google maps and found Cape Roots, which was on the same street as the other places we were going. We both got sandwiches: I got a turkey BLT and Josh got The Pilgrim. It was a cute little breakfast and lunch place with seating and some to-go options.

Dinner: Sand Bar. I had another place planned for dinner that night, but I just wasn’t feeling it, so I looked up this place an hour before we left. Thankfully, it had fully opened for the summer season; there were only a few other people in there, granted, it was a Monday night. I joked with Josh that it was run by a frat house because the wait staff was all college-aged guys. Josh got a beer and I got an Aperol spritz; for meals, Josh got a crispy buffalo chicken Caesar wrap and I got fish tacos, which I actually really enjoyed.

Ice cream: Cape Cod Creamery. I got Marston Mills Mint Chip, and Josh got Ferry Strawberry.
