Late last week, I realized after looking at my Fitbit app that I was on a multi-day step streak. As in, if I kept at it until this past Wednesday, I’d hit two weeks.
Challenge accepted.
To the point where I went for a walk last Saturday and then suffered from my allergies for the rest of the day.

Between runs and walks, I did make it to two weeks, and then broke it to get ice cream with Josh. (The ice cream after dinner was worth it.)
I’m not sure if it’s a direct result of activity every day, but I’ve felt for the past two weeks that it’s been easier to fall asleep and even some nights had a pretty deep sleep. I’m not doing this for weight loss, although I have been trying to eat a bit better; it’s just been nice to get out of my condo and move my body in some way.
Josh has joined me on some of the walks, which is a great way for us to catch up about our days. We’ve always liked going on walks, so he’s been supportive of my step streak and always up for a walk.
The neighborhood surrounding my condo complex is very residential, so I feel safe going out for walks. (Obviously, I don’t go out when it’s dark.) The main roads have sidewalks, and a lot of the side streets aren’t busy. I have a handful of go-to routes of different lengths; I usually like to do 1.5-2 miles for each walk.
Josh and I went for a walk this afternoon at lunch to hopefully start up the streak again, but it’s supposed to rain this weekend, so it might be short-lived. For now, my goal is to try to get out whenever I can for a walk. I’m on a three-time a week running schedule, and I’ll walk on the days I don’t run when I can (allergy and weather dependent).
