Life
I got my first COVID vaccine shot this month! I go back this Sunday for my second shot. I’m so grateful and it makes me feel like we can maybe return to some sort of normal soon. I’ll have a separate post coming soon about my vaccine experience.
Things are about to get a bit crazy with work as we’re entering May and commencement time. Once we make it past the middle of the month, maybe we can all take a deep breath.
I dyed some of my hair purple! I used to have colored hair a few years ago but figured I’d bring it back because there are no rules in a pandemic. I’m calling it my Pandemic Purple. It’s underneath, so I can hide it if I want to but you can still see it if I curl my hair.
I’ve also started the process of condo searching! 🙈 I started looking back in January online at what places were available and after talking with my parents and waiting a few months to save up some more money, this month I got in touch with a real estate agent and a mortgage lender. It’s a bit scary but I’m excited for the possibilities and change. I’m looking locally—nothing really farther than a half hour away from work—but nothing I’m looking for is available right now. But I’m glad at least I got the process started now.
Exercise
I only ran a handful of times this month and went on a few walks. I’m trying to be better about listening to my body and what it wants, like not forcing myself to go for a run if I really don’t want to. If that’s the case, I’ll maybe go for a short walk instead to at least get out of the house.
Writing
I actually wrote a bit this month of my story! I’m going back and adding in a new character—it’s a cat—so I have to revisit the 10+ chapters I’ve already written to include a cat. Which is really a very me problem. I haven’t had much time to work on it, though. Hopefully this summer I can spend more time on it.
Sports
We’re one full month into baseball! I’m honestly surprised at how well the Red Sox are doing. They’re currently in first, which is honestly surprising. I was a bit worried coming into this season with the group of guys they have, but so far so good? (Hopefully I didn’t just jinx them.)
The NFL Draft was last night! Why is the beginning always so awkward? I felt like I was cringing through Goodell’s introduction, granted, I don’t disagree with the booing he got. Anyway, I’m happy to see 3 Alabama players go in the top 10. I told myself I was only going to stay up until the Giants picked at number 11 and then they traded that pick to the Bears, dropping themselves to number 20, so I called it a night and went to bed. I was hoping the Giants would get either Waddle or Smith from ‘Bama but at least they drafted a WR.

Other Stuff!
I’m still working on my answers to your questions post that should be out next week! Just in case anyone is patiently waiting for it haha.
My Questions For You
- How was your April?
- Are you excited for spring?
- Are your allergies as bad as mine?
- Anything fun planned for May?
Good luck with condo searching! That is very exciting and yes, very scary. Yay for baseball. My Giants aren’t doing too badly either although we’ve already had some injuries.

WAIT A HOT SECOND BECKY! You just got your first dose and now you’re getting your second?! What is this magic?! My appointments are May 6 and Aug 26! So lame!
YAY condo hunting! My friend purchased one as it was being built and it was over a year and a half late getting finished. She got her keys in March and is now slowly getting it together but she is in no rush to leave home haha!
April was ok. I am excited for spring! But I have decided to wean myself off of allergy pills that I have been taking every day for a year so my body is not happy. I hope to sign a contract for a new job before May is over! And I am VERY excited for my first vaccine dose on Thursday!

So regarding the COVID shot, Paul and I have talked a lot about how in Canada the doses are really spaced out. In the US, if you get Pfizer (which I got), it’s 3 weeks between shots, Moderna is 4 weeks, and if you get the Johnson & Johnson, it’s just the 1 shot. It’s so crazy to me that the shots in Canada are so spaced out.
Condo hunting is a bit scary, but there’s not much on the market right now, so at least I’m going to get the mortgage pre-approval done so that’s one less thing I have to worry about. I’m not in a rush either (since I’m still with my parents) but it’s definitely a goal for this year to get my own place.
Ugh, allergies suck. Mine are still bothering me a bit which I’m not happy about. It’s just when everything starts to bloom that causes me trouble. Good luck with your shot! 🙂

Our Pfizer shot was the same but they changed it. Its so frustrating!
I hope you find something you love!! So much better to buy than rent. I wish I could do that but I can’t.
Hope your allergies ease up a bit!

Great news that you were able to get your Covid vaccine! I got my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine nearly two weeks ago and thankfully didn’t have any side effects. It feels so good to be fully vaccinated! Condo hunting is so exciting!! I remember that the process of buying seemed really daunting when we started it too but I’m so glad we went through it. I love being settled in our home. You’ll have to keep us updated on the process!

I have no clue how I’ll react to it but we’re prepped with Gatorades and luckily I’m still working from home so I can just lay low if I have any issues. My parents were fine (they got Pfizer like me) and one of my friends was fine after hers, but I can only be prepared just in case.
I will definitely keep you guys updated on the condo hunt! I’m glad I finally made the first few steps and got the ball rolling. It feels much more real now than just scrolling through Zillow haha. I’m excited about the possibilities of having my own place and being able to have friends over and have my own routine.
