This might be as random as my Walk-In or Drive-Thru post from the other week, but I like random topics. And I get to learn more about you guys.
I’ll start:
- I normally go to bed around 10:30 p.m. and I wake up at 7:30 a.m. (during the week) and after 8:00 a.m. on the weekends.
- I’ve recently invested in actual pajamas instead of wearing miscellaneous old t-shirts. Right now I normally wear a t-shirt and long pants but during the summer I’ll wear t-shirt/tank top and shorts.
- I HAVE TO absolutely have to wear socks to bed. I think I’m in the minority here, but I can’t not wear socks to bed.
- I also have to have a fan on. It’s a white noise thing. And the fan doubles as a cooling method during the summer if I get hot.
- At age 26, I sleep with three stuffed animals. It’s comforting! (And yes, they all have names…)
- I’d rather have the room temperature be cold. I hate sleeping in a warm/hot room.
- The room can’t be completely dark. I have a little night light plugged into an outlet to provide some light.
So, again I’ll ask, how do you sleep?
I sleep with socks when it’s cold or I can’t get warm enough. I have no trouble sleeping…drives my husband crazy because he has trouble falling asleep. I usually go to bed around 10 PM but read for another hour or so. No stuffed animals on the bed but there are some on the shelf. Koalas.

How do I sleep? Usually not very well… I’m generally up a couple of times throughout the night, which I find highly annoying. The only time that works out well for me is if I wake up feeling rested and look at the clock to see it’s only around 1:00 and I have a lot of sleep time left in me. I try to go to bed between 10 and 11, then I’m usually up around 7. I usually just sleep in a pair of shorts and, sorry, can’t do the socks. I know there have been times when I have gone to bed with socks on and, really, fully dressed because it felt too cold, but I always wind up kicking the socks off during the night. I also need a fan, both for the white noise and for the circulation of air. Most of the time I don’t care what the temperature is as long as the air isn’t stagnant. I tend to sleep on my side, and I’ll switch sides during the night. So by morning, the hair on either side of my head is sticking up, so I look a little like Wolverine. Or those Flock of Seagulls guys. I don’t have any stuffed animals, but I do have an extra pillow that I’ll usually hold under my arm or put between my knees for extra padding. And I never sleep in the dark. If it’s too dark or too quiet it’s just uncomfortable. The hallway/kitchen in my small apartment has a dim light above the counter, so I leave that on. If nothing else it gives me enough light to see where I’m going if I have to head to the bathroom.

I usually go between 11 and midnight, and I’m up between 6 and 7 every morning, including weekends. But even if I’m not in bed, if I lie down, I fall asleep.
Although I toss and turn a lot, I usually start on my left side and end on my right. If I’m on my right side, I always slide my arm under the pillow. No idea why I only do it on that side.
Suzi keeps a fan on for white noise. I don’t even notice it. When I was a kid, I wanted to have the radio on when I went to bed, but my father wouldn’t allow it because he didn’t want me to depend on it.
From the time I was a baby (and there are pictures to prove it), I have slept with my legs crossed.
I probably spend as much time outside the covers as under them, especially when I first go to bed.
Flannel pajamas are my favorite.

I’m the opposite in some ways. I need it to be completely dark, I don’t even want a light from a power bar or computer, I pile blankets on top of myself, would hate a fan on, don’t wear socks unless it’s VERY cold, and have worn pyjama sets my whole life!
That said, absolutely with you on the stuffed animals. It’s comforting! And something to hold on to!

I wish I had a better bedtime “routine”. It’s something that I’ve always wanted but I can never stick to it. I usually go to bed around 10:30 and wake up at 6. I start work by 7:30 but now that I work from home I can pretty much just roll out of bed and start my day.
I can 100% not wear socks to bed. There’s just something about it that keeps me awake. I also can’t wear my rings or Apple Watch.
I have to sleep with a sound machine on the fan setting and prefer to also have the humidifier going if the air is dry. I really like sleeping in a cold room so that I can be bundled in blankets.
Our dog and cat both sleep in bed with us. Our cat likes to lay in between our pillows by our heads. Our dog likes to take up most of the bed and requires his own blanket to burrow in. He’s a 12 pound dog with a king sized blanket. So spoiled!
This was fun! I really like these question posts!

Is it weird that I have most of the same sleeping habits – except for the sock thing. I don’t have stuffed animals anymore, but I do have a cuddle pillow because I can’t sleep without holding/cuddling something. It’s weird, I know.
All the best, Michelle (michellesclutterbox.com)

This is a loaded question.
I go to sleep late. I like a cooler room rather than a warmer room, which forces me to sleep with the blinds open so the hot air goes through the window. I don’t mind the light from the street light shining in. In the winter, two blankets sometimes 3 of it’s -20 outside. No socks. Long sleeves and long pants in the winter, though if I’m wearing long johns I’ll just wear those on the bottom. This is getting too personal isn’t it? In the summer, it’s as little layers as possible because my room is look an oven overnight and I normally have to wake up in the middle of the night to open my door and fan some air in. I also fall asleep with the radio on – it turns itself off after an hour.
I think that’s everything. No stuffed animals though.

OMG BECKY I SLEEP WITH A STUFFED ANIMAL TOO! 😀 I used to sleep with a bear I’ve literally had since I was 3, but she’s in rough shape ever since Winnie got a hold of her when she was a puppy, so I went through a phase where I didn’t sleep with one, but it sucks, so recently I decided to “borrow” one of Hazel’s stuffed animals. If she sees it, sometimes she’ll take it, but I try to hide it so it can stay in my room LOL. My husband just deals with it because I can’t cuddle and sleep, so I give him cuddle time without the bunny and then when I’m ready for sleep, we go our separate ways and i snuggle the bunny LOL.
Definitely no to socks or a fan. I have actual pjs, but I prefer to wear just a big t-shirt. And I go to bed anywhere from 10pm on and wake up when Hazel wakes up or by 9am to start work.
This is a fun topic!

[…] A lot of my ideas come from things I’m doing in my real life. Obviously with COVID, I haven’t been going on too many adventures, but I’m hoping to get back to doing new things soon. Some of my other post ideas are sports-related, thus my “Becky Yells About Sports” category. I’ll also just write about random things that I think others will relate to, like when I asked if people use the drive-thru or just walk-in to places or how they sleep. […]
