My Favorite Christmas Movies

In an effort to feel more festive this year, I’ve been trying to watch Christmas movies whenever I can. But in reality, it seems I only have a handful of favorite Christmas movies that I just re-watch all day, every day.

Home Alone & Home Alone 2

Obvious classics. I think I’ve watched both the most so far, and watching Home Alone on Thanksgiving night is a yearly tradition that gets me into the Christmas spirit. I know that movies past the second one exist but I’ve only ever watched the first two. I think I like the second one a bit better.

The Santa Clause 1 & The Santa Clause 2

The Santa Clause is my favorite Christmas movie and could probably watch it on repeat. Part of it has to do with the fact it was clearly made in the ’90s; I actually think it was made the year I was born (and after a quick Google search I’m correct). The second one is just as good. I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched the third one as much as the first two, but I like that Freeform shows all three back to back.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The tree! The lights! “I don’t know Margo!” And an opening song that always gets stuck in my head.

White Christmas

A classic! I’m proud to say I know all of the words to all of the songs and it definitely gives me a feeling of Christmas, like I just want to curl up under a blanket with a hot chocolate and watch it feeling.

Four Christmases

I’ve been watching this one a lot more the last couple of years. I like that it’s a Christmas comedy and how crazy each of their families on. I normally don’t like Vince Vaughn either but I like him in this movie.

Christmas with the Kranks

Oh look another Tim Allen holiday movie. I haven’t watch this as much as my mom has this year, and I think she’s to the point now where she can quote most of it. It’s another great Christmas comedy. And you can’t forget about Frosty.

What are your favorite Christmas movies?

  1. I can’t wrap my head around someone leaving their child at home so the Home Alone movies don’t really interest me although I do like the part where Kevin is protecting his house. My favorites are the Christmas Carol movies and I really like A Muppet Christmas Carol. Those little guys just crack me up. The Santa Clause movies are good too. Christmas with the Kranks is pretty funny as well. I may try and catch The Christmas Chronicles. I love Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.

  2. I’ve only seen two Christmas movies this year and one of them was Home Alone. That and The Santa Clause are always great. Whenever I see National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation on TV, my natural instinct is to not watch (no idea why), which is why I’ve never seen it.
