I had seen these kinds of posts done by people in the past, and I figured it was a good post to do on a monthly basis to talk about what’s happening in my life. The concept is that if we were sitting down and talking, this is what I’d tell you is going on. And, of course, you’re more than welcome to share what you’ve been up to in the comments! 🙂
This month had its ups and downs, mostly downs, but we’re—my family and I—are fighting through it. I hope things get better next month, because it was a sucky way to start the new year.
I think I’m finally out of my funk at work. I’ve been working on a few projects that I felt good about and working with really nice people is just really nice, too. I hit my three month anniversary this month, and it feels like I haven’t been there that long but also that I’ve been there longer than that. I guess that’s what happens when I went to school there, too. The students are back on campus, so there is a lot going on, unlike how dead campus was while they were on winter break.
I’ve been in sort of a book slump. Out of the last six books I’ve read, I gave three of them two-stars on Goodreads. They seemed promising—I had even read one of the author’s other books before—but I don’t know if it’s because I’m being too picky or cynical about romance, I just didn’t like them. My Ex-Life by Stephen McCauley, was good, and Turbo Twenty Three by Janet Evanovich was an easy read. I’m reading Baseball Cop by Eddie Dominguez now. I read before I go to bed at night, and sometimes I’ll read for a half hour or so on during my lunch at work.
The Super Bowl is Sunday, so that means my mom is making some awesome snacks. I’ll have a pre-Super Bowl post out on Friday with a drinking game included.
I’ve realized I’m kind of a homebody. This isn’t brand new information to me, but now that it’s winter—it was two degrees last week TWO DEGREES!—I look forward to staying in on the weekends and either reading or watching Netflix. There’s not much you can do when it’s that cold in New England, so I’d rather just stay in where it’s nice and warm.
I finished Ozark on Netflix, and now I’m watching Grace & Frankie. I had watched the first three seasons when they came out and then kind of fell off. Now that seasons four and five are up, I’m picking up where I left off. I’m definitely not in their demographic, but it is a funny show. I’ve started watching the Ted Bundy show, too, since it’s only four episodes.
I’m glad January is over, but I don’t really have much planned for February. I know there are a few projects coming up at work for this month, and I’ll mostly be reading and staying out of the cold.
