Here’s to 2016

This is the first time in a while (well as long as I can remember) that I’m content with going into the New Year. I need a little bit of a fresh start, but I’m also not going to pressure myself to completely change once the clock strikes 12:00am because of something that happened that I had no control over.

I know that the BIG event is looming five months into 2016 (hint: it starts with a “g” and ends with “raduation”). But until then, I plan on enjoying my last semester of undergrad with my roommates and friends. I don’t want to say I necessarily have “resolutions” but rather things I want to continue doing into the New Year.

Take better care of myself: this involves a few different things, including working out, eating better, and knowing when to relax for some me time. I was put on the sideline halfway through the fall semester because of my sprained ankle, so I wasn’t able to accomplish my goal of running 3 miles (without dying). My roommate agreed to be my personal trainer for the semester, so she’s definitely going to kick my butt but it’s needed. I have to cut down my ice cream consumption (it’s so hard though when you’re stuck in there for 5 hours surrounded by ice cream!), so I’ll continue to bring snacks with me to work. And sometimes I just need some me time because I stress myself out and I end up a million times worse than I should be.

Write more: this applies to my blog on here and also the personal journal I keep. Both fell to the wayside during the semester because I got so busy, but I think it helps me when I’m stressed and I can figure out what’s really going on in my head. For my blog on here, I hope to chronicle more of the last semester of my senior year of college; in my journal, I hope to write down more of my feelings and sort out how I want to feel and treat myself.

These are the only two things I would like to work on this year, well, at least, the big ones. There’s little ones, too, but I feel like these two “resolutions” are important for me to continue to improve upon myself in the upcoming year.

  1. I know what you mean when you get so busy and you want to write and document everything but life feels like it’s just moving so quickly! I honestly can’t even remember fall semester!!! Haha. Loved your simple goals. I might be stealing them 🙂
