My New Year’s Eve plans include a bottle of wine and a college football game. And I couldn’t be happier.
I’m looking forward to 2016. My Bama boys haven’t disappointed me this season (well, excluding the loss to Ole Miss), and sports will never wake up the next day and say they don’t love you.
Alabama is the first team to have appeared in the College Football Playoffs both years since it was implemented last season. The team went in ranked #1 but suffered a loss to #4 Ohio State, who went on to win the National Championship.
According to ESPN, the #2 Tide has a 68% chance of winning over #3 Michigan State. They had roughly the same percent chance of winning last year, but ended up losing. I’m hoping that they can hold onto a lead to make it to the National Championship game.
This year, Alabama has some luck on their side with the 2015 Heisman trophy winner, Derrick Henry, who broke the SEC rushing record this season with 1,986 yards in 339 attempts. Quarterback Jake Coker took over the position from Blake Sims (who apparently, after not being selected in the NFL draft, played for a brief period of time in the Canadian Football League). Coker has completed 65.4% of his passes for 2,489 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Other star players, like Kenyan Drake, Cyrus Jones, and Reggie Ragland hopefully will shine at AT&T Stadium when the game starts at 8:00pm on ESPN.
It sucks that the playoff games are on New Year’s Eve, but since I don’t have any plans, I don’t mind staying in to watch a group of guys I will never meet but I treat like my own children.
