I had a fairly busy weekend—well, by my standards—so I figured I’d do a recap of what I did!
Friday, May 1
(Yes, I’m including Friday since I took the day off from work!)
Morning: Josh was heading up to Maine for the weekend with his mom to help open up the trailer at the campground for the season (where we stay when we go up to Kennebunk), so I told Cannoli she and I were going to have a “girly weekend”. He left in the morning, and after I had breakfast and written up the grocery list for Saturday, I put together Cannoli’s new toys that arrived. She’s definitely spoiled, and it’s pretty easy since I have a Chewy account now.
Afternoon: The reason why I took Friday off is because of my tattoo appointment! My mom and I were going to get a matching one, and I wanted to get another one while I was there, too. We went to the same artist who did my Maggie’s ears tattoo back in the fall. The matching tattoo is of my mom and my birth dates since we share the same birthday, and the additional tattoo I got is a lily of the valley. The artist did great work again, and we’re so happy with how the tattoos came out.
Evening: My mom dropped me off at home so I could feed Cannoli before going to date night dinner with my dad, too. Once I got home afterward, I was a bit drained from all of the socializing and talking, so I took an everything shower, read a book, had a beer, and watched the Sox game.
Saturday, May 2
Morning: Cannoli came into the bedroom at 3:30 am and woke me up. Why? To say hi? To ask where Josh was? To ask when breakfast is? Who knows, but it took me a while to fall back asleep afterward. I got up around 9:00 am, and after having breakfast, I headed to the grocery store. I make my list in the order of the store aisles and I’m always on a mission when I’m in there, so I was in and out pretty quickly.
Afternoon: I decided to take a couch nap after lunch and ended up napping for about two hours. It was a bit longer than I wanted but I guess I needed it after my early wake-up call. I also love couch naps, so I’ll take any excuse to have one.
Evening: Our favorite third wheel, my friend Alex, was briefly promoted to plus one as she joined me to go to a Jack and Jill for one of our friends (Josh would have gone with me had he been home). Before we left, she came over early to see Cannoli, of course. We were at the Jack and Jill for about four hours; the beer selection at the venue was a bit disappointing (bottled domestic only), and I didn’t win any of the raffle prizes. But I’m glad we went and were able to support our friend! Josh will be my plus one for the wedding next month.
Sunday, May 3
Morning: Once again, Cannoli woke me up early at 4:30 am, so I ended up throwing her out of the bedroom and shutting the door so I could sleep. I got up around 9:00 am again, had breakfast, and did some chores. I read for a bit before lunch, working my way through The Jills by Karen Parkman.
Afternoon: My mom and I had a movie date to see The Devil Wears Prada 2; I picked her up and we headed to the theater for the 1:40 pm showing. The theater was actually pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon, especially since we had to wait 10 minutes in the concession line for popcorn and sodas. We really enjoyed the movie! There were a few callbacks to the first one, but I was hoping for a bit more.
Evening: I made myself dinner around 6:00 pm—a BLT with avocado, pasta salad, and chips—before taking a shower and parking myself on the couch to read with Bar Rescue on in the background. Josh got home before 8:00 pm, so we spent some time catching up before I went to bed early.
