Catching Up Over Coffee: September 2022

Life

It’s been a bit of a stressful month, especially condo-wise. At the end of August, we got hit with a really, really bad thunderstorm and it knocked out my garage door opener and overhead kitchen light. I’ve spent the month working on getting those replaced; the garage door opener was replaced this week, and I’m still waiting on my new kitchen light to come in. Once that does, I’ll have an electrician come out and install it. (I also bought new bathroom lights—yes, to replace the ugly fish lights in the main bathroom—so I’ll have those installed, too, along with the kitchen light.) There was also the annual condo owners meeting, and who knew those meetings could get so intense? There’s a new board of directors now, and hopefully going forward, repairs, projects, and other things our monthly fees go toward will be better taken care of.

Now that I’ve gotten all of the adult stuff out of the way, here are some of the fun things I did this month:

  • Had two friends from work over for dinner and to hang out
  • Started a new cross stitch pattern
  • Saw a performance of Mamma Mia!
  • Went bowling with Josh and his friends
  • Caught up on my new shows that started this month
  • Went to The Big E with Josh (see my post from when I went in 2019; my recap from yesterday will be up this weekend)

Not “fun” but necessary: I got my second COVID booster on Tuesday, and I have my flu shot scheduled for next Wednesday.

Josh and I have one last trip planned for the year next month, and I’m super excited about it. We’re going to a Getaway House in CT for 3 days/2 nights in the middle of October. It’s the closest I’ll get to camping—the cabin has running water, a toilet, and a shower—but I’m looking forward to getting away for a few days.

Running/Exercise/Whatever

I ran almost 28 miles total this month, which has been more than I’ve run in a while. I have a 5K race on Sunday, most likely my last one of the year. My runs during the week have felt okay, I mean, I’m not as good as I used to be, but it’s nice to get back out and run in the cooler temps. My goal for the race on Sunday is to just have fun and finish it. I ran it back in 2019, and I’m familiar with the route area, but I’m just going to do my best.

Sports

I think I have watched the total equivalent of half a baseball game this month. The Red Sox are absolutely terrible. I’m excited that football is back, both college and NFL. Plus I’m 3–0 in our fantasy league! Which is surprising to everyone! Especially me!
