Catching Up Over Coffee: November 2021

Life

Some of my monthly adventures included seeing Mamma Mia!, going to a brewery with some of my co-workers, and taking an afternoon trip to West Hartford with Josh that included going to Elizabeth Park, New Park Brewing, and World of Beer in Blue Back Square.

I finally got around to hanging up stuff in my living room and office to make it look like someone actually lives here. I also decorated for Christmas the weekend before Thanksgiving because there are no rules.

I got my COVID booster the Sunday before Thanksgiving; my first shots were Pfizer, but my booster was Moderna. I got it on that Sunday because I took the week of Thanksgiving off from work, and I wasn’t sure how I’d react to the booster. Luckily, I felt fine, just a bit tired and my arm was sore into Tuesday. I hung around Sunday and Monday watching Netflix, which wasn’t terrible.

I went home for Thanksgiving, and you can read the recap here, which includes pet pictures and what entire bottle of wine I drank throughout the day.

Overall it was a pretty good month. It went by so fast, though; I can’t believe tomorrow is December 1st and we’re only a month away from 2022.

And here’s your monthly Lucy picture!

Running/Exercise/Whatever

I haven’t run once this month. And I’m honestly just winging it. It’s cold and dark after work, so it’s not even like I could run at night. I’ve gone on a few walks in my neighborhood, and I’ve done yoga a few times. I found a YouTube channel that has 30 minute no equipment workouts that I might do. I just want to move my body, whether that’s walking or yoga or a quick workout.

Sports

I hadn’t watched a Giants game in weeks and this past weekend I decided to watch the game and almost had a heart attack in the last two minutes. They’re 4-7 on the season, which is similar to my fantasy football record of 5-7. I was on a good streak for a few weeks but lately haven’t been doing as well. It doesn’t help I had a few weeks when everyone was hurt or had COVID.

Josh and I are going to another Thunderbirds game next month, which I’m really excited about since I had a lot of fun last time we went.

My Questions For You!

  1. To my American blogging friends: How was your Thanksgiving?
  2. Have you decorated for Christmas yet?
  3. Do you have anything fun planned in December?

  1. I decorated for Christmas in my home a few weeks ago and my classroom just today. Because of Covid I’m not doing too much.

In December I will be seeing my dog for the first time since Sept 1st 2020 so I am very excited for that!

  2. I think Catch-22 is on my 100 book scratch off poster. I vaguely remember reading it in high school. I’m not doing sports since baseball is over. I also haven’t decorated the house yet. Maybe we’ll get a tree this weekend, but definitely the week after. That’s about all the decorating I do nowadays, except for a few lights outside the house.

    • I’ve never read it before but bought it at a used bookstore back in September. It’s good so far but it’s taking me a while to get through it. I know there’s a movie from the 1970s but also a mini-series on Hulu that I think I’ll watch once I finish the book.

Sometimes minimal decorating is just as good! I love seeing lights on the houses; a bunch of them in my neighborhood already have them up and I like seeing them when I’m driving home from work.

  3. We’re going this weekend to cut a tree and I’m very excited! I’ve been in the Christmas spirit for a few weeks and the only thing keeping me happy is crafting some DIY Christmas decorations and ornaments.

I have a cousin that lives in D.C. so my husband and I are going to go stay with him on Dec. 23 and check out a holiday market and maybe try finding somewhere to go ice skating. I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

    • When I lived with my parents, we’d get a real tree every year. They’re not doing a big tree this year because of the new puppy, but going to get a real tree is always super fun.

That sounds like it’ll be a great trip! I’m hoping to go ice skating this month, too.
