What Podcasts I Listen To

I listen to podcasts when I’m at work, well, normally, but even since I’ve been working from home I’ve been listening to them. (Although sometimes once a week I’ll have the TV on in the background.) These are the ones that I’m currently listening to!

Pod Save America: This podcast is from Crooked Media and is hosted by former Obama aides Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor. I’ve been listening to this podcast for awhile now, since the end of 2018/beginning of 2019 (I can’t really remember). The guys are great, and the water tumbler I drink out of every day is from their merch store.

Hysteria: This is another Crooked Media podcast hosted by  political commentator and comedy writer Erin Ryan (and often features Alyssa Mastromonaco, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations during the Obama administration) who talks to a bunch of awesome women every week about what’s going on in the world. I like that it’s all women and my favorite segment of theirs is “I Feel Petty.” I started listening to this one earlier this year.

What a Day: Yet another Crooked Media podcast hosted by Akilah Hughes and Gideon Resnick as they break down the latest news of the day. The episodes are typically 15 to 20 minutes long, so it’s an easy way to stay up to date on what’s going on.

(Give me any Crooked Media podcast and inject it into my veins.)

Baseball BBQ: This podcast is hosted by Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman, the two guys better known as Cespedes Family BBQ. They used to have a podcast—The Cespedes Family Barbecast—which I loved and listened to until its end in 2017. The guys worked at MLB and now have a new podcast on Ringer, so obviously I’m going to listen to it.

Brunch: Featuring DJ Bean and Pete Blackburn, the bad boys of podcasting. I’ve been listening to them since 2018. Both of the guys work in sports but they talk about pop culture, movies, music, and other random things.

Bax & O’Brien: This is the local classic rock radio station’s morning show. I’ve been listening to them since high school, and I know I’m definitely not their typical demographic, but I love listening to them. They take each weekday morning show and turn it into a podcast episode. It’s actually what I listen to on my runs because the nonsense they talk about is just enough to distract myself from realizing that I’m actually running.
