If We Were Having Tea

Work

I’ve finished up my first full month of working from home. It’s okay, I guess. I’m working off of my desktop now instead of a laptop, and it’s definitely a better setup. April is always a busy month on campus, and it sucks that we missed all of the on-campus events. And I miss going to baseball games; I made an effort last year to go to a few, and it was fun to get out of the office for a little while.

I did take last Friday off just to have a day off. Like two weeks before we started working from home, I had planned out all of my vacation time for the year but all of that went out of the window. I hadn’t taken a day off since February and I know I’m home and couldn’t really leave the house but I needed a day not to be responsible for stuff. I painted my nails, finished HP4, watched a lot of Psych, and worked on a puzzle.

Running

I ran my lowest monthly mileage this month, but that’s because I started working in 5K runs to work on my time. The Student Activities office on campus held a virtual 5K last week, and I obviously participated in it because knowing my luck, that’s going to be my only “race” this year. It was wicked windy but I still went and I ran my best 5K time yet!!! So that was really exciting.

I mistakenly ran 7 miles yesterday, so… haha. I ran a sorta new-ish route and when I used Map My Run to plot it out, I messed up and ended up running farther than I had intended. I’m also going to start working on my plan to run 10 miles by the fall.

Sports

There still aren’t any. I mean, there was the NFL draft. I watched the first hour or so of the first night, mostly to 1. see how badly the GMs were going to mess up using computers, and 2. to see who the Giants took with the fourth overall pick.

Extra Stuff

We celebrated Maggie’s birthday on April 3! She turned 8. There’s a pet and garden shop (that actually used to be one of my clients at my old job) that has fun dog treats, and I always get my dogs Happy Birthday cookies.

In the background, you can see my other dog, Sadie Mae. I always get two—the big one and a smaller one—because they’ll split the cookies over two nights as their night treats.

My mom and I started and finished another puzzle! This one wasn’t as hard as the 1990s one we did but was still 1,000 pieces. We’re now working on a cat one.

And here’s just a fun picture of Stella in a box. She’s been enjoying jumping into all of the boxes from the stuff we’ve ordered. Even if it’s a tiny box, she’ll try to get in it. This was a box for windshield wipers.

My Questions For You!

  1. How was your April?
  2. How are you holding up?
  3. How are you adapting?
  4. Is there something non-pandemic related that you want to talk about?

  1. Great puzzle. A lot of those books are on my 100 Essential Books scratch off that I got for Christmas. I finished the A to Z Challenge and I am very happy about that. Now I need to think of something for May.

  2. Your cat looks so much like my Leia! Leia also likes boxes… She’s particularly fond of egg cartons and will lay in (on?) them for hours.

  3. That puzzle looks so cool! I helped my mom finish a puzzle the other day-they’ve been a fun thing to do while at home. Aw Maggie looks so cute with her Happy Birthday biscuit, and Stella looks adorable in the box! My cat loves climbing into any size box too.
