Catching Up Over Coffee: March 2024

Life

First of all, happy Easter! I’ll be going home to my parents later this afternoon for dinner, and I heard the Easter Bunny might have stopped by with goodies for Josh and I… and going home is always a good excuse to see the pups.

I think I got over the funk I had in the middle of the month—and not including the weekend I had a stomach bug that kept me on the couch. Not sure if it was the fake spring we experienced or I got better at managing my weekly tasks, but I don’t feel as overwhelmed.

We went to another Springfield Thunderbirds game with my dad, a family friend, and his nephew. The T-Birds played the Syracuse Crunch, and there were so many fights; one of them included dropping of the gloves, which we hadn’t seen before. The game was Napoleon Dynamite-themed—the two actors who played the main characters, Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez were there in honor of the movie’s 20th anniversary. I’ve never seen the movie, but we did discover that I still know all of the words to “Canned Heat”. The T-Birds won 6–4.

Josh and I continued our 2024 Brewery Tour. We went to Rustic Brewing; I had been there before with a friend in December but it was Josh’s first time. We both got flights and really enjoyed our time there.

Things not pictured:

  • Hung out with my friend from work, had dinner at her house, and watched a movie. We hadn’t seen each other in a few months (we both WFH), so we knew we had to plan something soon.
  • Lots of Animal Crossing! I don’t play every day but I try to play every couple of days since new things are always popping up.
  • Josh and I went to his best friend’s surprise 30th birthday party last night at a bowling alley. And I don’t think I’ll ever be invited back because I guess my bowling impressed everyone? And Josh was being a sore loser about it? Someone asked me if I was a professional bowler, and I was like, “My dad and I used to go a lot when I was younger? And I have my own ball?” I really don’t know why I’m decently good at bowling.

“Exercise”?

I ran a 5K race yesterday! I hope to have a recap posted this week about it. I did run a few times prior when the weather was nice (it’s been cold and rainy this month, so it’s been hard to get outside). There’s a nice bike/walking path near my condo that’s actually pretty hilly, so I went over there one Saturday morning to run the hills. I’ve also gone on some walks after work just to get out of the house, and I’ve been keeping up with my weekly dance class, which has been a lot of fun.

Sports

March Madness all day every day. I really don’t care about college basketball during the year, but as soon as March 1 hits, I’m like inject this into my veins. Josh and I have been watching some of the games; he did a bracket which is pretty busted, and although I didn’t do one this year, I plan to do one next year based solely on mascots. We’re rooting for UConn since it’s the home state team for us, well, mostly me but Josh lives with me now soo.

I also haven’t watched a Red Sox game to date yet. And that’s because they opened the season on the west coast and all of the games start past my bedtime. Eventually, I might be able to watch one?

    • omg 🤦🏻‍♀️ That’s a mistake, it should say Animal Control. It’s probably because when I was writing the post yesterday I was thinking about how I was going to play Animal Crossing after I finished 😂
