Catching Up Over Coffee: November 2023

Life

I went to the Book Barn on one of my Fridays off from work. Josh, being the good boyfriend that he is, drove me down and followed me around holding the bag I was filling with books. The final numbers were—books: 18, locations visited: 2, cats pet: 4, and goats seen: 2.

I also got a tattoo! I knew I wanted something in my mom’s handwriting for a long time but deciding to get it done now was sort of spur-of-the-moment.

I went home for Thanksgiving, ran a 5K, and drank an entire bottle of wine.

I was being super grumpy about the holidays, and Josh forced me to put up our Christmas tree last weekend. I’m slowly getting into the spirit now.

Things not pictured:

  • Saw Jesus Christ Superstar performed by the theater group I volunteer with
  • Went to a celebrity bartending event put on by the local classic rock radio station and Springfield Thunderbirds hockey team to raise money for a food pantry fundraiser
  • Went to Josh’s 10-year high school reunion
  • Started working from home full-time

“Exercise”?

I ran two 5K races this month! The first was the GySgt Thomas J. Sullivan 5K Remembrance Run and the second was Stuffing the Pantry. And then I just might go into hibernation.

Sports

Josh and I went to our first-ever NFL game! It was fun, cold, and I guess the best outcome between two terrible teams.

  1. Fun! Book stores are my favorites! I love going to our local library sales. Fill a bag for $10! My daughter wanted me to write “La Vita e Bella” for her so that she could get a tattoo of my handwriting. If I had known she was going to get it true to size I’d have written smaller – LOL. She had it done on her forearm too and it goes all the way from her wrist to her elbow. Yours looks very nice.

  3. I also have a tattoo in my mom’s handwriting on my left forearm! Mine is closer to my elbow and says ‘meaningful’. I have a large black & gray thigh tattoo of a dahlia and a rose and I get asked, “What does it mean?” like all tats are suppose to be symbolic… so now I have a meaningless tattoo (other than it’s pretty and I like it) and a meaningful tattoo, literally. 😅

    • Hey, it’s pretty and I like it is a sufficient reason to get a tattoo haha. I’m actually going back in a few weeks to get another tattoo… and then should be good for a while 😅

  4. Sounds like a great month! Your tattoo is SO cute—I have been dying to get something in honor of my parents for a while now, and I love how wholesome it is. Also, great book list: I’m searching for a few new books to end the year on, and both Mad Honey and Cloud Cuckoo Land sound like solid options. Thanks for sharing!
