Diary No. 10

I’m dreading the holiday season. This time of year just gets so busy, and I’m not mentally prepared for it. I’m seeing my Google calendar filling up with events, and I’m like, ahhh. And I’m not even excited about putting up my Christmas decorations. I just want it to be October all the time—I’m still very into the fall vibes. The one thing I do know is I need to take care of myself after a lot of socializing; that usually means becoming a blanket burrito on the couch and not talking to anyone. And having Christmas to New Year’s off from work is always nice (one perk of working in higher ed).

I voted yesterday! It was just the local town election, but I still went and did my civic duty. I could have done an absentee ballot, but by the time I remembered to send in my application, it was probably too late. So I went in person, mostly because I drive right by my polling place on my way to work. I was in and out in five minutes, and, of course, I got my “I Voted” sticker.

I’ve been in a true crime mood lately. I’m usually always in a true crime mood and Josh doesn’t bat an eye when he walks in the living room and sees me watching a documentary about a serial killer. I’ve been listening to the Serial Killers podcast on Spotify while I work, and since there’s such a long back catalog of episodes, I’ve got plenty to listen to.

I’ll be working from home a lot more. We are being moved out of our office space at work, and the new space we’re moving to isn’t ready for us, so most of my department will be WFH. I’m expecting to be home through the end of the spring semester/Commencement/May of next year, and then after that, I could be WFH full-time—TBD. And I wouldn’t be against that.

Can I hire someone to do my adult admin items? By this, I mean handling my prescriptions, calling people for me, and figuring out the new health insurance plan work is switching to for next year. All of my schooling didn’t prepare me for this, and I always call my dad for random things, but still—I’m 29 and I’m not enough of an adult. I don’t like this.
