Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie

I’m a baller on a budget here, so there’s no way I’d spend thousands of dollars on concert tickets. I mean, I was told that a couple of hundred for a Jonas Brothers concert was “too much” (that was Josh)—and that’s how we ended up paying $80 for Big Time Rush tickets.

I didn’t have any interest in seeing Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in person, but I was open to seeing the movie in theaters, especially since tickets were $19.89. Luckily, I didn’t have to twist Josh’s arm much to get him to go with me—”I don’t mind Taylor Swift, but I don’t like it when celebrities interrupt football”–Josh.

We decided to turn it into a date night, and he had a Regal theater gift card, so we used that to buy the tickets. The closest Regal to us is at MGM Springfield, and it would be my first time going to that theater: it has reclining seats and you can bring beer in!!!

We grabbed dinner at Red Rose—of 7.9 One Bite fame—before going to the movie at 7:00 p.m. (I think I could eat their tossed salad for every meal for the rest of my life, it’s so good.) The movie theater is on the second floor of the casino and is quite fancy. (I should have taken a picture of the lobby but I didn’t think I’d end up doing a post about the movie.) We printed out tickets, each got a beer, and headed to the theater. When you buy the tickets online, you can pick your seats; I had seen videos of teenage girls dancing and singing, so I wanted to be as far away from people as possible. We opted for the middle in the back row.

Like I mentioned before, the theaters have those comfy reclining chairs, which are awesome. (Good thing we didn’t go to that movie theater to see Oppenheimer or else I definitely would have fallen asleep for the entire movie.) The start time was 7:00 p.m., but the movie didn’t start until 7:30 p.m., which meant we’d be getting out even later since it was a 2 hour and 40 minute movie.

I think there may have been 25 people in the theater, and we were pretty spaced out. No one got up and danced, like those videos I’ve seen. I sang in my seat, and Josh said the girl further down in our row was doing the same. But overall, it was a chill crowd, thankfully.

Here’s the breakdown of the songs she sang from each era (I Googled this since I already forgot from a few days ago):

End Credits Song

  • Long Live (Taylor’s Version)

(The following songs were cut from the actual show that weren’t in the movie: “The Archer,” “No Body, No Crime,” “Long Live,” “Cardigan,” and “Wildest Dreams”.)

My overall thoughts are that it was really good! I still don’t think I’d want to see it in person, but the movie was shot and edited really well. Each era was different from the other, from the set to the stage to her wardrobe. And it looked like Taylor was really having fun up on the stage. Josh was very impressed with the stage effects and the camera work.

I knew the majority of the songs she sang; there were just a few that I didn’t know the words to or had never really listened to. But it was a good variety of her songs from over the years. I do wish she had sung more from the Speak Now Era. And her debut wasn’t in it? Aside from “Our Song” as one of the surprise songs. I tried Googling it and couldn’t find out why.

That did get me thinking, though, of what songs I’d personally want to see her sing from each era:

Lover Era

  • Cruel Summer
  • The Man
  • I Think He Knows
  • Paper Rings
  • Daylight

Fearless Era

  • Forever & Always
  • Jump Then Fall
  • You Belong With Me

  • closure
  • champagne problems

  • King Of My Heart

  • Enchanted
  • The Story Of Us
  • Long Live
  • Back To December

Red Era

  • Red
  • State Of Grace
  • Holy Ground
  • Begin Again
  • All Too Well (10 Minute Version)

Folklore Era

  • the 1
  • mirrorball
  • august
  • invisible string
  • peace

1989 Era

  • You Are In Love
  • Style
  • Out Of The Woods
  • All You Had To Do Was Stay

Midnights Era

  • Lavender Haze
  • Question…?
  • Mastermind
  • Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve
  • Maroon

I’m glad we decided to go in the end. It was a fun date night, but most importantly, an affordable date night. And no, I didn’t make any friendship bracelets.
