I’m back into running. I can thank my new position at work for that. My role as Web Content Manager coincided with launching a new website, so I’ve been so busy. I’ve put my blood, sweat, and a lot of tears into it, and I decided I needed to do something. Anything. So I laced up my running sneakers again. I hadn’t run since the end of May, and it actually felt good to get back at it. I’m only running 2-2.5 miles at a time, but it’s something to help with my nervous energy.
I bought books for the first time in a while. Josh gave me a Barnes and Noble gift card for our two year anniversary and promised to take me to the store to get some books. Well, I also found a gift card I had gotten for Christmas from the pets—yes, it was signed from my pets—so I had $100 to spend on books. We went last Friday afternoon; I had prepared a list of possible books but I also was going to let the books speak to me once I was there. I ended up getting:
- Beach Read by Emily Henry
- Either/Or by Elif Batuman
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
- Spare by Prince Harry
It no longer feels like Florida here. For most of July, it was 90+ degrees, humid, and raining all the time. Thankfully, around last week, the humidity disappeared and the sky stopped opening up. We were able to turn the air off in the condo and have the windows open all the time. And it’s been wonderful. I’ve also been able to sit outside on my balcony and read.
My relationship with social media and changed, and I like it. As with the aforementioned new position, I’m no longer managing social media accounts as part of my work. I feel like a bit of relief has been lifted off my shoulders, and I have a healthier relationship now that I’m just using it personally. I don’t have to spend as much time on my phone or see what’s trending or popular and figure out how to replicate it. Or understand new platforms. Not that I was posting a ton before on my personal accounts, but I feel like I can post more fun things and just feel less pressure overall.
We’re going to Maine this week! And I’m so excited. Josh and I went to Maine last June and I loved it; we’ll be up for another long/4-day weekend this week in Kennebunk. We’re going to be doing some stuff we did last year but also some new stuff together. I just need to make it through this week and I’ll have this mini-vacation to relax. (Don’t worry: I’ll be doing recaps posts afterward!)
