Thanks to Facebook memories (yeah, those notifications you get showing you something you posted 3 years ago that you don’t want to see again or that you’ve been friends with some random kid from high school for a year), last week I realized that I posted my first blog post a year ago. So that means Strikeouts & Sprinkles has turned one!

I started this blog back in March 2015 because I always had little inklings to write but no where to put them. For my Sportswriting class, we had been using WordPress to write weekly blog posts, so over spring break, I decided to make a blog. The name comes from my two favorite things: baseball and ice cream. My original intentions was to write about my life, which I still do, but lately I’ve been writing more about sports.

Last summer, I didn’t end up writing as much as I wanted to – mostly because I was fairly busy with my internship and regular job. And the same goes with the fall semester. I was readjusting to being back at school and being single again. But I found I had a lot more time on my hands, so thankfully I had S&S to work on.

Since the new year, I made a promise to myself to post at least once a week, which I have been able to accomplish. I thought it was going to be hard to update S&S weekly, but it’s not too hard to take 15-20 minutes and write something up.

I’ve always loved writing, ever since I was little. I would write fictional stories all the time and even dabbled in Jonas Brother fanfiction (which I don’t tell anyone about… Until now). Of course I also love to write about sports, and it’s something I hope I can do for a living one day. Recently I’ve gotten back into writing short stories, and maybe I’ll post them on here for fun. Writing is something I’ve always been good at, and it’s the best way for me to communicate my thoughts and feelings.

Thanks to everyone who has read, liked, and commented on my posts – it’s greatly appreciated! In the next year, I hope to connect with more bloggers and continue to spend time working on S&S so it can be at its best.
