I did a post like this back in the fall, and since I went to the town library recently, I thought I’d do another edition!
Sunday, March 1
Afternoon: Saturday was a busy day for Josh and I, so I knew on Sunday I wanted to spend the afternoon on the couch with a book. I started Murder in the Dollhouse by Rich Cohen and read about half of it before dinner. It’s about the disappearance and presumed murder of Jennifer Dulos in 2019. It was a major story here in the state of Connecticut when it happened, so I knew what had happened in real time, but it was interesting to get a backstory on Jennifer, her husband, their relationship, and everything that led up to what happened in May 2019.
Bedtime: You will see a common theme in my bedtime reading this week, in that I’m still reading We Are All Guilty Here by Karin Slaughter. Will I ever finish it? Who knows.
Monday, March 2
After dinner: Since I had read half of Murder in the Dollhouse the day before, after I got home from my parents’ house (I use their treadmill) and had dinner, I parked myself on the couch to finish it.
Bedtime: Okay, so We Are All Guilty Here is also a 400+ page book, and it’s pretty detailed, so that’s probably why. Based on the first quarter or so of the book, I originally thought it was going in one direction, and then there was a huge time jump and sort of a twist. I feel like it slowed down a bit once it hit that part.
Tuesday, March 3
Bedtime: Continued with WAAGH.
Wednesday, March 4
No reading! Not even before bed. The reason why? Cannoli decided to be really snuggly that day and jumped up on my lap at 9:30 pm. I usually start going into bed around 9:45 pm, but I just didn’t want to disturb her. And we had to get up early Thursday to bring Josh’s car for an oil change (I was his ride back home).
Thursday, March 5
After dinner: I had about 45 minutes after my treadmill run and had dinner before my nightly watch of The Pitt, so I started Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera.
Bedtime: Alright, now that I have less than 100 pages left of WAAGH, I’m just sticking it out. I normally love Slaughter’s books—I’ll just grab them from the library without reading the descriptions—but this is her newest one and it seems like it’ll be a 3 star read for me once I finish. At this point, I just want to know who did it.
Friday, March 6
Morning: I tried something new this morning! Since I don’t have my lunchtime reading anymore and I sometimes don’t have time to read after work, I lost one of my designated reading times during the day. I decided that instead of rolling out of bed just before work starts (shhh), I want to get up at 7:30, take time to have my breakfast, and then read for at least 20 minutes before I feed Cannoli and log into work. I continued reading Listen for the Lie, and with about 5 minutes left, Cannoli jumped up on my lap to snuggle, which was nice.
After dinner: I read all but the last 10 pages of WAAGH in an attempt to finally finish the book. (Then I watched last week’s new episode of SVU and caught up to the current episode of The Pitt.)
Bedtime: The last 10 pages of WAAGH! Definitely just a 3 star read. Then I started Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft.
Saturday, March 7
Afternoon: I continued with Listen for the Lie before going to our niece’s first (!!!) birthday party, where I actually recommended Listen for the Lie to someone since they asked what I was currently reading.
Bedtime: And I continued with Stone Cold Fox. It’s okay so far—I think I need to give it a bit more of a chance.
