Catching Up Over Coffee: November 2025

My last 5K race of the year: This is the fifth year I’ve done this particular one, and it’s always one of my favorites. Josh was able to come along with me and partake in the morning beers post-race. I had to walk a lot more than I would have liked, but this race for me is about supporting my friend and honoring her uncle, who was killed 10 years ago.

Tuesday trivia night: Josh and I went to a trivia night (funny enough, two days after my 5K race at the same restaurant where the run took place) with his best friend, his best friend’s parents, sister, and her new boyfriend. There were six rounds—we won one of them—and ended up coming in first overall! We were definitely surprised, and it was a lot of fun, too.

New tattoo! As I mentioned in my October monthly recap, we had to put our dog, Maggie, down. I always told myself that whenever she passed, I would get the outline of her ears as a tattoo. I went to a new-to-me studio for tattoo #4 and would totally go back there. The artist who I worked with was obsessed with Maggie’s ears, and she did such a great job.

Jonas Brothers concert: The biggest highlight of the month was seeing the Jonas Brothers for the first time ever in concert at age 31. It was so much fun, and I’m so happy I went!

Christmas decorations: Josh and I spent yesterday afternoon putting up our Christmas decorations. We both believe that the appropriate time to put everything up is after Thanksgiving, not before. The majority of my decorations are the ones I first bought when I moved into my condo, and I still like how they all look. And it’s pretty to have the tree on at night.

Miscellaneous:

  • My dance classes finished up for the year this month, which made me kind of sad. We’re taking a break for the holidays and will start back up in the new year. I’m still so glad I decided to start going last year; it’s a way for me to break up the week, get out of the house, and move my body.
  • My parents and I went to see Little Shop of Horrors, which was performed by the theater group I volunteer with. I had gone to one of their dress rehearsals to get some videos for social media, but it was fun to go back and watch the entire show from the audience.
  • I went to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving. Josh joined us for breakfast and Lucy pets before heading to his parents. In a plot twist for the ages, I didn’t partake in my annual tradition of drinking an entire bottle of wine. Instead I opted for a bottle of sparkling grape juice, which was a great alternative.
