I thought this would be a fun post to do! I’m not sure if I’ll do it every week, but maybe during weeks when I’m reading different books. I went to the library about a week and a half ago and came home with 9 books (which is actually low for me), so all of these are borrowed—and so if I end up not liking them/finishing them, I don’t feel as bad because it still helps the library with their overall numbers and I’m out here being a town library girlie.
Sunday, October 12
Afternoon: Sunday football means reading during the game. I read All the Water in the World by Eiren Caffall, about getting halfway through. It was fairly short so I figured it wouldn’t take me too long to read.
Before bed: I had started The Compound by Aisling Rawle earlier in the week, and although it was around 300 pages, it felt like it was taking me forever to finish it.
Monday, October 13
Since I had the day off from work, my main goal was to read for most of the day.
Morning: Unfortunately, I skimmed basically the second half of All the Water in the World because it turned out to be different than I thought it was going to be, and I was also just genuinely confused about what was going on and the new characters that were introduced. In the end, I gave it 2 stars.
Morning/afternoon: I finally finished The Compound and gave it a 3-star rating. The concept was interesting but I felt like it slogged a bit in the middle, and I just wanted to get to the end.
Afternoon: After lunch, I started Matchmaking for Psychopaths by Tasha Coreyell and was happy I found it easy to read and read about half of it in the afternoon.
Before bed: I started King of Ashes by S.A. Cosby; I was glad I found another book that hooked me early after the other two I forced myself to finish.
Tuesday, October 14
Lunch: I always try to read during my lunch break, so I continued with Matchmaking for Psychopaths.
Before bed: For the past few years, I read one book during the day and one book at night (I try to make sure they’re different kinds of stories or genres so I don’t get them confused). At the moment, King of Ashes is my nighttime book.
Wednesday, October 15
Lunch: I finished Matchmaking for Psychopaths—solid 4-star read.
Before bed: I continued with King of Ashes.
Thursday, October 16
Lunch: I started The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits by Jennifer Weiner but sort of knew after reading the first 30ish pages it wasn’t going to be for me. Plus I checked out some of the reviews on Goodreads and figured I’d DNF it before I got too far into it.
Before bed: No reading that night. Josh and I went to see Roofman at the movies and got home around 10:30 pm, so I went straight to bed.
Friday, October 17
Afternoon: I was looking forward to starting The Once and Future Witches by Alix Harrow because, you know, it’s spooky season. But after reading about 30 pages, I didn’t quite understand what was going on but wanted to give it another chance.
Before bed: Another night of no reading. Josh, myself, and our favorite third-wheel, my friend Alex, went on our annual beer maze trip, and we got home around 10:00 pm.
Saturday, October 18
Afternoon: This was my second chance with The Once and Future Witches, but even with another 30 pages, I think I was more confused about what was actually happening, so unfortunately, I DNF’d it. My allergies were acting up a bit, too, so I decided to catch up on some of my weekly TV shows instead.
After dinner: I started Mister Magic by Kiersten White while I was waiting for Josh to get home from work, and I’m really into this one. It’s giving thriller vibes, so maybe a good alternative for my spooky season reading.
Before bed: I’m about halfway through Kings of Ashes and hopefully can finish it this week.
oh my gosh, i have no idea how you can read more than one book at a time! That’s really awesome!
Yay for supporting libraries!! It’s why i keep both my library cards open now that I’ve moved lol. Being able to support them both is really great!
