Life
This month felt really long, which I guess is good as I’m trying to soak up the last bits of summer. As much as I do love fall, I want to get as much out of summer as I possibly can. (Because it’s starting to get dark early again and it makes me so sad.)
One sign, at least for me, that summer is over is when the students move back to campus at the university where I work. This week was the first week of classes for the fall semester. I’m still working from home full time, so it’s weird to not be on campus for the beginning of the semester; it was always exciting to see everyone back.
For the third year in a row, Josh and I went to Brew at the Zoo at a local zoo about 20 minutes away (here’s my full post about it last year). It’s basically a big brew fest in the zoo and you can walk around and see all of the animals.

Josh and I had our annual long weekend trip to Maine this month! You can catch up: part 1, part 2, and part 2.5. Aside from an incident with a lobster roll, the trip was a lot of fun and we definitely made the most of of the four full days we were there. (We’ll be going back for a few days at the end of September.)

We also went to our first-ever Worcester Red Sox game!
Things not pictured:
- The theater group I volunteer with had their annual meeting where they vote on board members and take a survey for possible shows for the upcoming 2025-26 season. It’s nice to see folks I haven’t seen in a while and catch up.
- We were supposed to go to our third Hartford Yard Goats game of the season this month with my parents and family friends, but I wasn’t feeling well the weekend of the game. At least Josh and I made it to two games this season, and I can’t wait to go back next season.
- Lots of books! At the end of July, I went to Barnes and Noble armed with $150 in gift cards—yes, it was dangerous. I got seven books. And then earlier this week on Monday, I was having a rough day, so I went to the library to get more books, armed with my new L.L. Bean Boat and Tote with “book bag” stitched on it.
- I have Monday off for Labor Day, and my plan is to spend most of the day reading and I’m so excited.
“Exercise”?
I officially started training for the 5K race I’m signed up for in October. Boy, it’s been rough. I’m hoping to write a separate post about my experience running again sometime next week. But, at least for now, I’m back at it.
