Diary No. 12

My first movie in theaters for the year was Migration. Josh and I kept seeing previews for the movie while we were at the movies last year and decided to go see it after the holidays. The theater we went to—the same one we saw the Eras Tour at—has really comfy seats and you can bring alcohol into the movie. We both thought Migration was really cute.

I’m debating changing my reading goal for the year. I made it 60 books this year, to match my goal from last year, since I read a total of 76 books in 2023. I’m sure I can read 60 for this year, but I don’t know if I should lower it to 52, like reading one book a week, so that I can read longer books? Or not feel pressure to read all the time? But it’s something I enjoy doing—I mean, I got a book tattoo last month—and I guess in the end it’s all just arbitrary?

Josh turned 30 last week, and I threw him a surprise birthday party on Saturday night! It was two months worth of planning, and I was so nervous about everything working out, but it turned out to be a success and everyone had a great time. It was at a local brewery that has a game room available that you can rent for events; the dart boards were a big hit, along with giant Jenga, giant checkers, and giant chess.

It snowed for the first time in ~700 days. The snow came Saturday night into Sunday, and I think we got around 8 inches by the time it finished. Since I live in a condo, a landscaping company comes and cleans out the roads and driveways; all I had to do was clean off my car a few times in between the snow. My parents sent me these pictures of the pups (Maggie on the left, Lucy on the right) out in the snow! They both love running around in it.

I’ve been watching a ridiculous amount of Criminal Minds lately. It all started in the middle of December when the Pop channel was showing some of the later seasons in the afternoon from 12:00–8:00 p.m. Usually, my go-to background show is Law & Order or Catfish, but for some reason, I was like, hmmm, let’s check out Criminal Minds. Now I’m hooked. I started watching it from the beginning on Hulu at the end of December, and I’m already in the middle of season 2.
