Folks, this month I hung up my ice cream scoop and officially left my very first job ever after 11 years.
For those of you who are new here, my first job in high school was at an ice cream shop in town, and I was still working there up until this month. The reason why I left after so many years?
I’m starting a new chapter in my life. I recently bought a condo, I’ll be living on my own, and I want to be able to freely make plans on the weekend. (Especially since we’re going back into the office full time in the beginning of August.)
And the reason why I was still working there after so many years?
It was a good job. A really good job.
I’ve made so many friends over the years, and hopefully I’ll still have those friendships for years to come. Working there was such a big part of my life—I mean, I spent almost half of my life there. And 11 years is long to stay at any job. I was one of the OGs there, and it’s always going to be a part of me.
It was sad to work my last shift last Saturday night, and it’s weird to not have to work this weekend. I’m still going to go get ice cream and hang out with the girls, but it was time for me to leave the nest. I left on good terms and know I can always go back if I choose to work again. But for now, it was time. Everyone was super supportive when they found out I was leaving and said I’d always be one of the girls.
I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to be there for so many years and make a second family of sorts. So yeah. It’s definitely bittersweet. But I’m excited for what’s next for me. It just doesn’t include me making sundaes anymore.
What a fun job! Congrats on the new adventures you’ll be able to have.

So does this mean that, like the baseball season, your blog title is going to only be “Strikeouts”? LOL

OMG I didn’t even think about that haha. I own my domain name so I think I have to stick with my current brand. But it still makes sense because I still love ice cream; that hasn’t changed.
