Blogger Recognition Award

Thanks to Bill over at A Silly Place for the Blogger Recognition Award! If you’re not following him, go follow him!

Rule 1. Write a post to show your award.

Oh hey, you’re already reading it!

Rule 2. Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.

Again, thanks to Bill for the nomination!

Rule 3. Give a brief story of why you started your blog.

I started this blog during my junior year of college, so in 2015. I had written a few pieces for those popular article websites that take user submissions, but I had trouble getting my pieces chosen. So I figured a self-published blog would help with all of my random urges to write. Plus I could post whenever I wanted.

I didn’t write too much while I was in college or after, maybe a post here or there when I was feeling inspired or had something to say. I didn’t start writing more consistently until last year when I think I just caught the writing bug. Or maybe it’s because I had a lot more to say.

Regardless, Strikeouts + Sprinkles has turned into an outlet for me to talk about running, sports, things that I do, and what books I’m reading.

Rule 4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

  1. It might take a little while for you to find some fellow blogger friends or end up in a blogger circle, but it’s definitely worth following other blogs/bloggers you have things in common with and comment on their posts. And once you find your little group, it’s really great because you get to know these people and you become interested in their lives or what they’re up to.
  2. Write often. You don’t have to publish a post every day, but find something that works for you. I post on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a few exceptions here and there depending on what’s going on in my life or if I’m busy. I also use a Google sheet calendar to plan out my posts on a monthly basis.

Rule 5. Nominate 10 bloggers who deserve the award.

  1. Life of Hayley
  2. Sarah Ames-Foley
  3. Jaimie
  4. The Wandering Flamingo
  5. Caffeinated Carly
  6. The Captain’s Speech
  7. Uniquely Cass
  8. The Confusing Middle
  9. Adventure With Ellie
  10. No Love for Fatties

  1. Thanks for the nomination, Becky! 🙂 I agree that it’s so important to find those little groups of bloggers to be your community. It makes the whole experience so much better and I can almost guarantee that I wouldn’t have kept my blog going as long as I have without them (including you!)

  2. Thank you so much! I agree about writing often. It helps me post more frequently. I am trying to post once a week. I also agree with finding your blogging community. I feel like it really motivates to keep blogging.

  3. Thanks for nominating me Becky! 🙂 And very good advice! I’m currently in a dilemma with what to do with my blog… I might even write a blog post about it, ha! But if I decide to keep it up, I’ll certainly try scheduling a bit better.
