If We Were Having Tea

This month went by wicked fast. I can’t believe April is next week?! I’ve been bad at posting/reading posts/commenting lately. I was busy working on an arts and crafts project this week, which I’ll have a separate post about next week. But other days I just feel drained when I get home from work, and after spending most of my day in front of a computer, sometimes I don’t want to open up my own.

Work

April and May are always busy months on campus, and I have to be good about sticking to my to-do list to make sure everything is done/ready/scheduled/whatever. I’ll be on campus for Accepted Students’ Day on the 7th to cover it for social media. I also finally got my business cards haha. It wasn’t really all that pressing, and most of the procrastination was on my part. I have a snazzy little gold name tag that has my name and title on it that I wear for special events, like ASD and commencement.

The ice cream shop is going well. Even with just my one shift a week, I still feel like I don’t have enough hours in the day to get everything done. But it’s nice to be back with the girls.

Running

I’m running a 5K tomorrow with one of the girls from the ice cream shop, and we’re both looking forward to having fun. She hasn’t run in a while, and I’m recovering from blisters, so we’re just going to aim to finish. And then we’re getting brunch/lunch/food after!

I’ve fallen off my running routine, but I’m hoping in April I can get back into the swing of things. I ran on campus a few weeks ago as a test run to see how many miles I could do. The campus is small, but I ran two miles around, so that’ll work. There’s a way that I could start a second loop to add a mile to make it a 5K, so I might do that going forward. It’ll be a little easier in the summer when I get out at 4:00 p.m.—we have summer hours—and the campus will be fairly empty.

Baseball

MY FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD STARTED YESTERDAY! I’m incredibly happy that baseball season is here. Last year I had tried to do a post every couple of weeks about what was going on in the league. If I have time this year, I might do it again.

I’m also doing fantasy baseball again this year. My team name is “Hate Us Cuz Yoenis.” I’ve already had four guys go on the DL—I’m not calling it the injured list—and dropped one guy who’s OUT FOR 8-12 WEEKS. I need to be better this season about setting my lineups and dropping players. I often manage with my heart and not my head.

What I’ve Watched on Netflix

I’m still in season two of Arrested Development. I just haven’t had the time this month to really watch a lot of Netflix. And now that it’s baseball szn, my Netflix watching decreases at night.

What I’ve Been Reading

  • One Day in December by Josie Silver: 4 stars
  • Limelight by Amy Poeppel: 4 stars
  • Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?: And Other Questions You Should Have Answers to When You Work in the White House by Alyssa Mastromonaco: 5 stars
  • Beartown by Fredrik Backman: 5 stars
  • Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury: 4 stars
  • Small Admissions by Amy Poeppel: currently reading and so far I really like it.

I’m halfway through my goal of reading 30 books for the year. I’ve been averaging about a book a week, which I didn’t think was possible.

Miscellaneous

I think I’m out of my funk. I may have a slight case of seasonal affective disorder. The winter is sometimes rough for me emotionally. Like December into January is fine; it’s February into March that just suck for me. The dark, the cold, just everything.

I’m looking forward to the warmer weather and being able to walk around campus more. It’ll give me an excuse to get out of the office. And everyone on social media loves pretty campus pictures.

My Questions For You!

  1. How was your March?
  2. Are you excited for spring?
  3. Any cool things happening for you in April?
  4. Are you as excited as I am that baseball is back?

  1. March was good. I’m actually looking forward to spring, even though I’m a fan of a snow day. In fact, I probably get more excited about missing school than the kids I work with. But April does have a spring break and I’ll be heading to Raleigh to get away for a few days. I’d be more excited about baseball if I had a way to watch it. No cable and no antenna means no live sports and no ESPN highlights. However, on a related note, the Red Sox minor league team in Salem is having auditions for national anthem singers tomorrow, so I’m going to try out. If I make it, that’ll be one more thing I can cross of the bucket list!
