I think about this sometimes, and it’s kind of crazy.
You don’t realize it at the time, but looking back you can see how you had a choice and what your decision was. And how that decision affected everything else you’ve been through.
In high school, I quit jazz dance lessons after three months. What if I didn’t? During my last two years, I managed the baseball team. What if I never reached out to the coach? I probably wouldn’t have met all of the guys and probably wouldn’t haven bought so many bags of Goldfish crackers.
What if I went to a different college? I was accepted to five and chose Western New England. What if I went to my second choice instead? I definitely wouldn’t have had the friends I did. I would have been involved with other organizations and clubs on whatever campus I was on.
Would I have the job I have now? What if I didn’t intern the summer before my senior year? What if my ex and I never broke up and I moved to southern Connecticut like I thought I would after graduation?
The more you think about it, the more everything seems to be connected. If I didn’t do X, then Y wouldn’t have happened. Now I know I can’t be 100% sure one thing wouldn’t happen if I did something different, but I can assume so.
It makes me wonder now what choices I’m making that could affect other things that happen to me in the future. I guess I’ll have to wait and see, right?
I definitely think about this a lot. Mainly, what if I attended a different university than the one I did. I’d have a whole different friend group, experiences, and pretty much everything else. All I had to do was accept a different offer and I’d have a different life.
Also, buying many bags of Goldfish crackers is always the right decision.

You’re definitely not alone in this. I think about it all the time. I met my now-husband at a job that my friend had to convince me to apply for!

It’s crazy how some things end up working out. I’m curious to see what’s in my future with the choices I’m making now.

Lol this is ridiculous, but I think about it in terms of money. I’m like oh my goodness… If I hadn’t spent this money on a stupid thing five years ago I’d have that much more now. Lol I know it’s crazy but it’s kind of funny, too.
