Happy International Women’s Day

It’s been great to see everyone posting on social media for International Women’s Day. I’ve seen a lot of great quotes and people sharing pictures of the women who inspire them the most.

So here’s my collection of pictures of women I’m glad are in my life:

My mom, of course, who I sound like and share the same birthday with. Plus she still does my laundry for me.

Just some of the girls I work with at the ice cream shop. They’re my second family and they’re kicking butt at life.

And some more of the girls I work with. These three (plus another) are now college freshman, and since I’m “mom” to them, I made them letters to put in their dorm rooms.

One of my friends, Stacey, from high school who is teaching kindergarteners. Bless her heart. But it’s perfect for her, and if I ever have kids, I’d want her to teach them.

My friend Shannon from college is now in law school and is going to kick butt as a corporate lawyer. She’s always been my “tell-it-like-it-is” friend, and boy do we have some funny stories from undergrad together.

Not pictured but included on my list of women is my old boss. She brought me on as an intern during college and hired me full time right before graduation. I’ve said before that when I grow up, I want to be just like her. She’s awesome at what she does, and I’m lucky now that I get to work with her as a client.

These are two quotes I had set as my phone background in the past, and I think I’d add Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren to my list. Plus Stephanie Ruhle, Katy Tur, and Nicolle Wallace. (Yes, I have been watching a lot of MSNBC lately.) And Michelle Obama. (If you have 10 minutes to kill, watch the video of her and Ellen in a CVS. It’s hilarious.)

Women are speaking up now and fighting, and I think it’s something to admire. We have a voice, and we deserve to be heard. That glass ceiling should be scared.

It’s great to have a day to honor women, and it’s something we should be doing every day.
